Hi, Carsten,

Do you still have the SrvLog (in /vice/srv/) of the machine "devil" ?
>From what you said, the createvol_rep script have correctly identified
the two servers (argus and devil), but when it was trying to talk to
devil, the RPC2 call failed (there was not even a binding). The SrvLog
may tell what went wrong.

You may also try, on devil, the "volutil setdebug" command to
see if the codasrv really responds to any RPC2.

For example, on my server, I do the following test:

[root_at_xylophone vol]# volutil setdebug 1
V_BindToServer: binding to host xylophone.cse.cuhk.edu.hk
VolumeDebugLevel set to 1.
[root_at_xylophone vol]# volutil setdebug 0
V_BindToServer: binding to host xylophone.cse.cuhk.edu.hk
VolumeDebugLevel set to 0.

The SrvLog on xylophone indicated that it got the calls from volutil:

10:50:59 Setting Volume debug level to 1
10:51:06 Setting Volume debug level to 0
