after startserver the SrvErr has following messages:

Assertion failed: ret == RVM_SUCCESS, file "recovc.cc", line 168
Sleeping forever.  You may use gdb to attach to process 29276./vice/srv# 

and the server won't come up! 

What is the meaning?
What is wrong?
