I think you're confusing 'venus-setup serv1.penguinboots.com 20000'
with the venus command line, but it looks like venus is nicely ignoring
the bad arguments.

Ehh, maybe a funny question, but is why is your server not listed in
/vice/db/servers?

It should contain:

    1 serv1.penguinboots.com
