I'm a bit puzzled, are you sure you mean RAM, not RVM? I am aware of a
(now reverted) change that made RVM allocation rather ineffective.

Unfortunately, I have no ideas for the moment, why your compile breaks.
(you'd have to wait until I meet the problem the next time I build :)
