bldvldb.sh           on the server
[restart of the server if nothing else helps, indicating update* problem]
and
cfs checkvolumes     on the client

should do the trick.

otherwise rather convinced that there is no real need for readonly
replicas, those are afs's workaround for the [in afs] missing read-write
replication
