You probably want to use

    cfs cs (checkservers)
    cfs wr (writereconnect) / cfs fr (forcereintegrate)

Firewalls suck, the following venus.conf options have treated me well,

masquerade=1      # use ony a single port pair for communication
validateattrs=21  # avoid ip fragmentation by shrinking validateattr packets
serverprobe=150   # masquerading firewalls 'forget' about us in about 3
		  # minutes, re-probing more aggressively keeps the hole open.
