Yes because after install the rootvolume in not a replicated one....
You have the possibility in coda to create replicated volumes and
non-replicated ones...

[client] $> cfs whereis /coda/you_cell_name
Will return you only the name of the SCM, so it's not a replicated one...

To build you first replicated volume you have to do this on the SCM
- add a VSG-address line in /vice/db/VSGDB ( this is an exemple as I
don't know the name of you servers )

E0000101 scm server1

- create the replicated volume

[SCM] $>createvol_rep testvol1 E0000101 /vicepa

- mount the volume

[client] $> cfs mkm /coda/your_cell_name/test testvol1

Then a directory /coda/your_cell_name/test will appear...

[client] $> cfs whereis /coda/your_cell_name/test
Will return "scm server1" , so the data in this volume are replicated on
this two servers...

It is...

Yes, client and server are distinct and could be installed both....
( good idea to have a venus on the SCM to validate you manipulations )
