Possibly not, but it is not planned/expected afaik.
Consider participating the rewrite effort :)
there are some changes which are needed and anticipated yet nobody
has undertaken the task, like adding strong encryption.

The log size is in the order of the amount of changes made during
the other server down time. Modification logs are per volume,
so volumes with high update rate would need bigger logs.
