I might be able to give some advice, if you start from the installer
provided at

http://www.aetey.se/index.php?Static&pg=CodaInstHowto

(look for "Coda Server Software" in the right column)

The installer is built for ease of installation and avoids some
misleading "choice possibilities". The installer is not extensively
documented but this can be improved with help of the Coda Wiki.
