Common files for all platforms

FreeBSD

In the ftp area, there are packages for the coda-client, coda-server, coda_doc and coda_intro. coda_intro has information to tell you how to get started using Coda. On a FreeBSD -current machine, you will find the Coda ports under /usr/ports/net.

NOTE: Coda Release 5.0 and onwards are GPL'ed.
NOTE: Coda 5.3.4 and higher need an installed lwp-1.1 library.

Linux

NetBSD

In the ftp area, there are packages for the coda-client, coda-server, coda_doc and coda_intro. coda_intro has information to tell you how to get started using Coda. On a NetBSD -current machine, you will find the Coda ports under /usr/pkgsrc/net.

NOTE: Coda Release 5.0 and onwards are GPL'ed.
NOTE: Coda 5.3.4 and higher need an installed lwp-1.1 library.

Windows 95/98/NT

Solaris

There are no pre-built binaries for the Solaris port. The code is not very well tested. To give it a try, just download the following files, which should be usable to build both the loadable kernel module, the Coda client, and the Coda server.

NOTE: Coda Release 5.0 and onwards are GPL'ed.

To make the transition for the *BSD users easier, we install Coda 5.2 into the package area net/coda5_client and net/coda5_server. The old packages can remain on your system as net/coda_client and net/coda_server. We will not be enhancing/maintaining any of this old code. The files in the coda5_server and coda_server packages install into the same place; as is true for the client. You can not readily keep both new and old Coda running on a single machine. Further, a Coda 5.2 server can not interoperate with a Coda 4.x client and vice versa.
